Carrot Hot Dogs

  • RECIPE MAKES: 4 hot dogs
  • PREP TIME: 3-12 hours (including marinating time)
  • COOK TIME: 40 minutes

Boil the carrots over a medium-high heat until they are tender (approx. 30 minutes). Drain and set aside.

Mix all the marinade ingredients in a bowl, add the carrots, making sure they are covered by the marinade. Cover the bowl with cling film, place in the fridge for 2.5 hours or overnight.

Remove the carrots from the marinade and grill/fry/bbq them for 5-10minutes on each side or until they are golden brown.

Place carrots in buns and serve with your favourite toppings.

Top the hot dogs with your favourite permitted toppings such as lettuce and avocado

  • 4 Large carrots, peeled and ends removed
  • 4 Low protein buns
  • For the marinade:
  • 125ml Soy sauce (soy sauce is exchange free if the protein content is 1.5g per 100g or 1.5g per 100ml or less)
  • 125ml Apple cider vinegar
  • 125ml Water
  • 2 tbsp Maple syrup
  • 2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 tsp Black pepper
